The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has responded to recent remarks made by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), rejecting claims that previous administrations failed to develop the state.
In a statement by the state chairman, Bello Aliyu Goronyo, the PDP noted that contributions by past governors, both military and civilian, have played a significant role in shaping Sokoto’s development over the years. The party emphasized that governance is a collective effort and dissociated itself from any narrative that disregards the efforts of past administrations.
The PDP also addressed concerns about socio-economic challenges facing Sokoto State, including poverty, unemployment, and access to basic amenities. It highlighted the withdrawal of employment for teachers and health workers as a matter requiring urgent attention and called for policies that would strengthen the state’s education and health sectors.
Regarding security, the PDP refuted claims that the previous administration failed in tackling insecurity. The party urged the APC to acknowledge past efforts in supporting security initiatives, while encouraging the current government to continue providing necessary interventions for affected communities.
The PDP further called for transparency and accountability in governance, stressing the need for policies that prioritize citizens’ welfare. The party urged the state government to ensure due process in the execution of projects and to focus on initiatives that would improve the living conditions of the people.
While acknowledging the ongoing efforts of the current administration, the PDP reiterated its commitment to constructive opposition and advocacy for policies that align with the interests of the people of Sokoto State.
