Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has said the newly completed Buzaye Roads Network will improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges and stimulate economic activities as part of his administration’s urban renewal programme.

The governor stated this on Monday during the commissioning of the Buzaye Area Road Network, comprising Argungu Road, Gobir Road, Lanzu Road and other connecting roads with a combined length of about two kilometres.

The project was inaugurated by Agbu Kefas, who attended the event as a special guest.

Aliyu expressed appreciation to the Taraba governor for accepting the invitation to commission the project, describing his presence as a demonstration of goodwill and friendship towards the people of Sokoto State.

According to him, road infrastructure remains one of the most important drivers of sustainable socio-economic development because it facilitates the movement of people and goods, improves access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets and residential communities, while also strengthening security and enhancing environmental development.

He said the newly completed road network would significantly improve transportation within the Buzaye community, increase commercial activities and enhance the quality of life of residents.

The governor explained that the project forms part of his administration’s broader Urban Renewal Programme, through which several strategic infrastructure projects have been executed to modernise the Sokoto metropolis and improve public amenities.

He said the programme is aimed at creating a functional, resilient and attractive urban environment capable of supporting long-term economic growth.

Aliyu noted that infrastructure development under his administration goes beyond constructing roads and buildings, describing it as an investment in human capital, economic opportunities and the future prosperity of the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring inclusive, equitable and sustainable development across all parts of Sokoto State.

The governor commended the state Ministry of Lands and Housing, contractors, consultants, engineers and other stakeholders for their professionalism and commitment in delivering the project.

He also thanked residents of the Buzaye area for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the construction period, saying successful development depends on strong collaboration between government and communities.

Aliyu urged residents and motorists to take ownership of the new infrastructure by using it responsibly and protecting it from misuse to ensure its longevity.

He assured the people that his administration would continue to prioritise projects that improve living standards, expand economic opportunities and promote sustainable urban and rural development.

The governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing infrastructure projects across the country, which he said are helping to reposition Nigeria for sustainable development.

He thereafter invited Governor Kefas to formally commission the Buzaye Roads Network.
