People’s Redemption Party (PRP) governorship candidate in Kaduna, Hayatu Lawal-Makarfi says he will ensure full local government autonomy in the state, if elected in 2023.
Lawal-Makarfi, who stated this at a news conference on Thursday in Kaduna, also promised autonomy for the state judiciary to effective and efficient delivery of justice in the state.
“We want to rekindle the hopes of Kaduna people. We have a three-point agenda, namely: social justice, economic and human capital development.
“We have deliberately left out insecurity, corruption and other ills, all of which are fallouts of the failure of past governments,” he said.
The governorship candidate said that his administration would boost the economy of the state by building a production-driven economy through the revival of industries, promotion of tourism and investment in local innovations.
He decried what he called the level of disunity in the state, saying that his administration would ensure unity and justice for all, such that everyone would feel a sense of belonging.
Lawal-Makarfi further stated that rule of law would be upheld, while leaders would lead by example during his tenure.
According to him, dependency on foreign goods will also be drastically reduced, with each local government area having an industrial project.
He said that social media opportunities would be harnessed to engage youths with digital skills, adding that education would be skilled-based, with students made to learn various skills while in secondary schools.
The 37-year-old Lawal-Makarfi, who described himself as the youngest governorship candidate in Nigeria, expressed commitment to creating two million jobs within his four-year tenure, if elected.
