A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Board Member of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA), Aliyu Sahabi Yar Abba has called on Muslims to use the Maulud celebration to promote peace, unity, tolerance and love for humanity.

Yar Abba, who is the immediate past Sokoto State Chapter Chairman of the Bureau de Change Operators of Nigeria, made the call in a message felicitating Muslims in Sokoto State, Nigeria and beyond on the occasion of this year’s Maulud, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

He urged Muslims to reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet, particularly his virtues of peace, justice, compassion, honesty, patience, forgiveness and service to humanity.

According to him, Maulud should go beyond celebration and provide an opportunity for Muslims to translate the Prophet’s teachings into their daily lives by promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and concern for the less privileged.

He said Nigeria needed greater unity, understanding and cooperation among its citizens, particularly in the face of prevailing economic and social challenges.

Yar Abba also urged political, religious, traditional and community leaders to prioritise dialogue, peace and the welfare of the people above personal and political differences.

He called on young Nigerians to emulate the Prophet by embracing honesty, discipline, hard work, humility, knowledge and respect for others.

“The Maulud celebration provides us with a valuable opportunity to reflect on the exemplary life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His teachings remind us of the importance of peace, justice, compassion, patience, forgiveness and service to humanity,” he said.

The APC chieftain further urged Muslims to pray for peace, security, prosperity and sustainable development in Sokoto State and Nigeria.

He prayed that Allah would guide the country’s leaders, protect citizens, strengthen unity among Nigerians and grant the nation peace and progress.

Yar Abba wished Muslims a peaceful, spiritually rewarding and blessed Maulud celebration.
