An entrepreneur, Pastor John Collins, has challenged Christian business owners to uphold biblical principles of righteousness and diligence in their pursuit of prosperity.
Pastor Collins gave the charge at the 2026 Men’s Summit of the Council of Foursquare Men (CFM) of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, held at the Akure, Ondo State District Headquarters on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
He cautioned participants against misconceptions about prosperity, noting that those who preach prosperity without hard work and viable enterprise do a disservice to both individuals and the Church. According to him, entrepreneurship and business growth are rooted in hard work and diligence—core biblical principles.
“While it is good to pray for prosperity, such prayers should be backed by hard work, innovation, and continuous review of business strategies to keep pace with modern trends,” Collins said.
He further advised business owners to seek divine guidance through prayer, embrace creativity, live within their means, and avoid frivolous spending. He warned that any business lacking an inbuilt quality control mechanism is bound to fail.
Collins also encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in agriculture and to acquire foundational knowledge before venturing into business.
In his remarks, the District Overseer, Rev. Olufemi Adeboyejo, emphasized the importance of dignified business practices. He urged Christian entrepreneurs to uphold integrity, dignity, and a humane approach in their dealings.
He noted that it is better to forgo a business deal than to compromise one’s faith, adding that believers should always act with honour, godliness, and integrity.
Also speaking at the event, a medical doctor at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital, Dr. Favour Akintunde, advised participants to prioritise their health and adopt the habit of annual medical check-ups.
Speaking on “Prostate and Men: Tackling Stress,” Akintunde stressed that men, especially those over 40, should regularly assess their prostate health to prevent complications. She also encouraged incorporating regular breaks into work schedules, maintaining healthy sleep routines, and avoiding junk food to sustain overall well-being.
The President of the Men’s Fellowship, Deacon Olusegun Sotikare, said the summit was organised to encourage men to engage in meaningful enterprises while maintaining a balanced lifestyle across family, church, and work.
Chairman of the planning committee, Dr. Igbekele Dawodu, noted that the summit successfully brought men together to discuss business, health, and service to God and humanity.
He urged Christian entrepreneurs to anchor their ventures on the biblical injunction to “Be Fruitful and Multiply” (BFAM), adding that business conduct should reflect the values of the gospel, which form the foundation of God-honouring enterprises.
