The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has affirmed that the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) College Project represents a strong commitment by military and police families to the cause of nation-building. He made this known during the ground-breaking and fundraising ceremony held in Abuja, praising DEPOWA for its visionary leadership.

Describing the event as a historic milestone, Minister Badaru said, “It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I join you to mark this significant occasion—the launch of the DEPOWA College Project. This initiative reflects the steadfast dedication of our military and police families to shaping the future of our nation. I commend DEPOWA for championing this noble vision.”

He emphasized the central role of education in national development: “Education is the foundation of any progressive society. This college will become a symbol of hope, excellence, and opportunity for the children of our courageous service members. By investing in their education, we honour their parents’ sacrifices and reinforce the backbone of our national security. A generation raised with discipline and patriotism is vital to sustaining peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.”

Reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment, he stated, “The Ministry of Defence fully supports this project and stands with DEPOWA to ensure its successful completion. We understand the unique challenges faced by families of those who protect our nation. This college will not only ease educational pressures but also promote academic excellence and strong moral values.”

He also called for broader support: “I urge all stakeholders—government bodies, private organizations, and public-spirited individuals—to contribute generously to this noble cause.”

In conclusion, Minister Badaru praised DEPOWA’s resilience and compassion: “To our donors and partners, your generosity will echo across generations. Together, we will build an institution that nurtures future leaders, innovators, and patriots. I wish you all a successful and impactful event.”
