The Nigeria Police Force have cautioned state governors against stopping opposition political parties from holding their electioneering campaigns in their state. Mr Dandaura Mustapha, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Operations, said this at the 2022 political parties’ summit in Abuja. Mustapha, who represented the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali-Baba, said that state commissioners of police had been directed to ensure that all political parties were given free space to campaign in states. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 24.6 tonnes of illicit drugs and other psychotropic substances seized from drug traffickers in Kwara. The confiscated illicit drugs, equivalent of 24,616.111 kg, were destroyed on Wednesday in Ilorin. IranWire has recently obtained a voice note from a female inmate in Urmia prison, in northwestern Iran, saying that a 22-year-old woman committed suicide soon after being release from custody. The young woman, identified as Afsaneh, was arrested during recent anti-government protests, the source said.
