Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the Nigerian Armed Forces and all citizens, in celebration of the country’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement released on Monday by his Personal Assistant on Media & Publicity, Mati Ali, the Minister expressed deep appreciation for the role the Armed Forces have played in upholding Nigeria’s security and sovereignty. He remarked: *“Our Armed Forces have been a pillar of strength in preserving the integrity and security of this great nation. Their unwavering dedication continues to serve as a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s future.”*

Badaru underscored the significance of unity and collective effort as essential elements for national progress, urging all Nigerians to embrace these values. He said, *“Our strength lies in our unity. Let us continue to work together in the pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity for all Nigerians.”*

Reflecting on the country’s journey since gaining independence in 1960, the Defence Minister called for a renewed commitment to national service and responsibility, particularly as the country faces complex security challenges. He commended the Armed Forces for their relentless efforts in safeguarding Nigeria and maintaining internal peace, despite the evolving nature of global and domestic threats.

In his message, Badaru also lauded President Tinubu for his steadfast support of the Nigerian military, stating: *“As we mark our 64th Independence Anniversary, I commend President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to the Nigerian Military and for his support in addressing the various security challenges confronting our nation.”*

He further noted that the President’s backing has empowered the Armed Forces to carry out their duties with greater effectiveness, enabling them to tackle issues such as insurgency, banditry, and other forms of insecurity that continue to plague parts of the country.

Looking ahead, Badaru expressed optimism that with sustained leadership and a united citizenry, Nigeria could overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger. *“Together, we can achieve the change we desire and build a safer, more prosperous Nigeria for future generations,”* the Minister concluded.
