President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Nigerian Army for its unwavering dedication to providing security along the Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway Project, a critical infrastructure development that will transform the nation’s transportation network.

The President praised the Army for its role in ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment at the construction site of the Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway Project.

This commendation was delivered by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, during his one-day operational visit to Kebbi State on Thursday, 8th May 2025.

The Minister addressed troops stationed at the Forward Operations Base Laager, responsible for securing the vital Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway Project construction site in the region.

Minister Abubakar emphasized that the Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway is a cornerstone of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to foster economic growth and improve the transportation landscape across Nigeria.

He described the project as a “game-changer” for travelers, especially those journeying between Sokoto and Lagos, while also highlighting the numerous job and economic opportunities it is expected to create.

“You know how important this road is, and you know how critical this mission is. That is why the President asked me to come here—to see you and to personally appreciate the great work you are doing,” Minister Abubakar told the troops.

The road project, once completed, is expected to significantly boost trade and movement within the region, while also contributing to the overall growth of Nigeria’s economy. The efforts of the Nigerian Army in safeguarding the project highlight the collaboration between the military and government to ensure the successful execution of key national initiatives.

The Minister’s visit served as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of the project and the ongoing role of the Nigerian Army in safeguarding national infrastructure projects.
