The Sokoto state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the party is only struggling to remain relevant.

This online platform recalls that the state Chairman of the PDP, Muhammad Bello Aliyu Goronyo on Wednesday, write the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu, claiming that the road projects being executed by his administration, are unconstitutional.

According to Goronyo, the projects embarked by Aliyu were no backed by the approval of the State Executive Council and not appropriated by the State House of Assembly.

“Capital projects can only be executed after the resolution of the State Executive Council, which the current Administration has not yet constituted.

“The contractor(s) carrying out the projects have not been made public for the knowledge of all.

“The costs of the projects have not been made to the public, as required by law, neither has due process established at the Public Procurement and State Tenders Board entities (as such body is also not put in place) before the commencement of the projects.

“Such projects are also subject to the approval of the State House of Assembly, which as at now are not included in the 2023 Appropriation Law signed by the immediate past Governor Amiu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR. Neither was the supplementary budget carried out by the present administration under Your leadership,” he stated in the letter.

However, reacting to PDP’s letter, the state Chairman of the APC, Sadiq Achida said “the Sokoto State PDP is only envious of the intimidating achievements of Governor Ahmad Aliyu in less than fifty days in office.”

Read the statement below:

We in the Sokoto State APC have observed that the new opposition party in Sokoto state the PDP, is making frantic efforts these past few weeks, to remain relevant.

This did not come to us as a surprise because, having realised the hollowness of their legal arguments at the Governorship Election Tribunal, they have decided to adopt a new strategy known as “the Pull them down syndrome”.

Unfortunately for the PDP, our Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto is a performer who cannot be deterred or distracted in his determination to develop Sokoto State and change the narrative of backwardness and lack of performance that the PDP era was known for.

Having read the content of the PDP Chairman’s letter on the Road Projects being executed by the new APC administration, we became convinced that the Sokoto State PDP is only envious of the intimidating achievements of Governor Ahmad Aliyu in less than fifty days in office.

The projects are meant to serve the interest of the people of Sokoto State and no amount of political blackmail will distract the new administration of the All Progressives Congress, under our able, progressive Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.

We are aware that the PDP leadership ( now being teleguided from far away Plateau State), may not realise that Sokoto State is changing fast for the better.

This is only the beginning and more will be coming. We would rather listen to the positive voices of the masses than the rantings of rejected and frustrated politicians.

However, we would like to advise the Sokoto State PDP Chairman, whom we know to be a Gentleman, to put politics aside, search his conscience and be patriotic enough to appreciate the Excellent work of Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, an achievement which, for eight years, their Government failed to bring about.
