Special Assistants (SAs) who served in the administration of former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, have once again appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun over the non-payment of their severance allowances.
The former SAs, who served Ogun State from 2015 to 2019, made their appeal in a statement by the group’s coordinator, Musiliu Oladeinde on Sunday. They urged Governor Abiodun to kindly consider approving the release of their statutory severance allowances, as prescribed by relevant laws.
The group also called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and prevail upon the Governor to meet their demands in the spirit of the Renewed Hope agenda, and to pay the former office holders their entitlements without further delay.
The statement emphasized that the payment of severance allowances to public officials after leaving office is intended to provide a financial buffer and help stabilize them as they reintegrate into wider society.
“We have previously met with the Governor regarding this issue, and he promised at the time to pay us. However, we have not heard anything from him since then,” the group stated.
While commending the positive strides and developmental impacts of both the federal and state governments, the group stressed that the timely release of their statutory allowances would give them a sense of belonging and strengthen their confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We are all loyal, card-carrying APC members who have contributed—and continue to contribute—to the growth of the party in Ogun State.
“In fact, we were at the forefront of those who marketed the party and helped make it a household name across the state.”
