The governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State, Mr. Ahmed Umar-Farouk, has pledged to strengthen partnerships with development organisations to enhance quality healthcare service delivery if elected in the forthcoming general election.

He also promised to initiate people-oriented programmes to reinvigorate education, and agriculture as well as enhance youth and women empowerment in the state.

Umar-Faruq stated this in an interview in Bauchi on Saturday.

He said the PRP administration would adopt practical measures to block financial leakages toward ensure prudent management of healthcare funds, to restore the confidence of the donor agencies.

The party, he said, would provide a realistic budget for the sector to address malnutrition, and improve maternal, children, and reproductive health services.

“The PRP administration will create a realistic budget to facilitate programmes that would improve the health indices in the state.

“We are going to invest in human capital development to reduce unemployment among youth and women through skills training programmes as the bedrock for economic development,” he said.

On education, Umar-Farouk said the PRP administration would accord premium to the development of the sector to address the menace of out-of-school children in the state.

He said the party would adopt a community approach in school management to restore confidence in the system and encourage parents to send their wards to school.

“The out-of-school children syndrome still lingers because parents have lost confidence in the system.

“Parents lost confidence in the sense that their children are in schools yet they could not acquire the requisite education,” he said.

According to Umar-Farouk, his administration will ensure good budgeting processes to provide adequate resources to each sector.

The governorship hopeful said that his administration would provide an enabling environment for stakeholders, to enable them to monitor budget performances in education and other social and economic sectors.

He, therefore, urged the voters to vote for PRP candidates at all levels to fast-track sustainable social and economic development of the country.
