The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, retired Inspector General of Police says training and human capital development will remain the cornerstone of his administration in the Commission.

A statement by the head of the media unit of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, and made available to THESTORIES on Friday, said Arase spoke when he received in audience the Assistant Director of Research and Documentation at the All Progressivre Congress (APC), National Secretariat, Abuja.

At the event, the chairman of the Commission declared his intention to train as much staff of the Commission as possible.

He said he believes in training and human capital development and noted that staff of the Commission currently on strategic trainings across the country are pathfinders of a new Police Service Commission anchored on Staff Development.

The PSC Chairman said he is a product of self development and will do everything possible to inculcate in the Staff of the Commission the spirit of a desire for self development.

He said he will continue to explore more strategic training opportunities for staff of the Commission.

Abubakar Bello had donated some books to the Commission’s library and expressed his genuine attraction for the PSC Chairman and what he has done for the country in the area of security management.

He said he was delighted to formally meet him in person and thanked him for investing in human development which he believes will be more harnessed through books and journals.

The Police Service Commission is the civilian oversight body established under the Nigerian Constitution for the Nigeria Police Force.

It has power to appoint, promote, discipline and dismiss all officers of the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) except the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

The objectives of the Commission are to make the relationship between the public and the police one of trust and confidence instead of suspicion and indifference.
