The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, conducted a one-day on-the-spot assessment visit to the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
During the visit, the Minister and his entourage received a comprehensive briefing on the institution’s structure, operations, and training activities from the Commandant of the Institute, Major General AB Mohammed.
The assessment aimed to evaluate the depot’s capacity to meet the evolving needs of the Nigerian Army, ensuring that its facilities, equipment, and training programs align with modern military requirements.
It also sought to identify areas requiring improvement, particularly in enhancing the efficiency of training, optimizing resources, and strengthening the operational readiness of personnel.
Military depots play a critical role in sustaining the combat readiness of armed forces by serving as key centers for training, logistics, and equipment maintenance.
Regular assessments are necessary to ensure that infrastructure remains up-to-date, training curricula meet global best practices, and military personnel receive the highest standard of preparation.
Such evaluations help the government allocate resources effectively and reinforce national security strategies.
The Minister’s entourage included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Adudu; SA Technical, General AT Jibril (Rtd); and General Staff Officer PGSO, Brigadier General AA Garba.
