Over 1,000 schoolchildren in Babura Local Government Area received a boost to their education as part of the 2025 International Children’s Day celebration, thanks to the efforts of Comrade Ali Mati Ali, Special Assistant to the Governor on Universal Basic Education.

The celebration, led by the Wife of the Jigawa State Governor, Amina Umar Namadi, was marked by colorful festivities, mentorship talks, and academic competitions. In a show of support for education, school uniforms and learning materials were distributed to more than 1,000 pupils drawn from schools across the local government area.

Organized by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Universal Basic Education, the event featured a Spelling Bee competition designed to encourage academic excellence and build confidence among schoolchildren. Winners received various prizes in recognition of their efforts.

Addressing participants, Amina Umar Namadi emphasized the state government’s strong commitment to child development through education. “Children are the pride of our society and the future leaders of our state and nation,” she said. “It is our duty to nurture their talents by providing quality education and meaningful opportunities.”

Ali Mati Ali, in his remarks, said the celebration served as a reminder of the collective duty to secure the future of the state’s children. He reiterated the Namadi administration’s focus on revitalizing education and appreciated the contributions of all stakeholders who made the event successful.

He particularly thanked Governor Umar A. Namadi, FCA, for his consistent support for educational initiatives, as well as the governor’s wife and local authorities for their involvement in this year’s celebration.

Also speaking, Chairman of Babura Local Government, Hamisu Muhammad Garu, announced a local initiative aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children. According to him, the council had commenced the distribution of writing materials, uniforms, and school bags to support pupils in public schools.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards to students and schools that excelled in the day’s competitions, leaving a lasting impression on the community and reinforcing the vital role of education in shaping Jigawa’s future.
