On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Muslim residents of the Kontagora Emirate gathered at the Eid Mosque in Dadin Kowa for a general prayer session, seeking divine intervention over the recurring banditry attacks that have continued to plague the area.
The prayer session, which drew thousands of men, women, and youths from various Islamic groups, including Izala (Kaduna and Jos branches), Tariqatu-Tijjaniyya, and Jama’atu Nasrul Islam, was led by prominent Islamic scholars and attended by traditional rulers, the Kontagora Local Government chairman, and other government officials.
During the event, special prayers were offered by different Islamic scholars, calling for Allah’s protection over the people and destruction upon the perpetrators and everyone supporting the attacks.
Speaking during the event, one of the Islamic scholars emphasized the importance of unity and continuous faith while urging the government to intensify efforts to restore peace and security in the community.
In his words, “We have lost many lives and properties to these persistent attacks. Today, we pray to Allah for protection and peace in our land. May Allah destroy everyone that has a hand in this banditry issue.”
In a statement, the Kontagora Emirate Council of Ulama’u (Islamic Scholars) appreciated the cooperation of all attendees and announced that a similar event may be held again in two weeks if necessary.

Hussaini Adamu, an indigene of Kontagora Local Government, expressed joy over the unity shown by various Islamic groups despite their differing religious understandings.
“This is something very interesting — seeing different faces gather together to find a solution to a particular problem despite having different beliefs in terms of religious understanding. Insha’Allah, I hope this will mark the end of the banditry issue in our community and Nigeria in general,” Mr Adamu said.
Similarly, Ali Gadanga, another resident of Kontagora, commended the efforts of the Islamic groups and the Emirate Council of Ulama’u for organizing the session.
“This needs to be happening from time to time, as long as those people continue to kill us,” he said.
