Abuja, February 21, 2025 – The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Mohammed U. Gumel, FIPMA, psc, has delivered his maiden general lecture to officers and men of the command, emphasizing professionalism, discipline, and integrity in policing.

The lecture, held at the Zone 7 Headquarters in Abuja, was attended by senior police officers, rank-and-file personnel, and other stakeholders in the law enforcement community.

AIG Gumel used the opportunity to highlight the strategic vision of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, focusing on strengthening public trust, ensuring ethical standards, and delivering effective policing services.

During his address, AIG Gumel reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to upholding law and order while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

He stressed that professionalism and discipline are the bedrock of effective policing, urging officers to exhibit exemplary conduct in their daily responsibilities.

He further underscored the significance of community engagement in modern policing, stating that officers must work collaboratively with the public to foster trust and improve security.

“We must discharge our duties with dedication, respect for human rights, and strict adherence to the rule of law. The public relies on us to provide safety and security, and we must not fail in that mandate,” AIG Gumel stated.

The lecture also served as a platform to remind officers of their duty to uphold justice and fairness in all their engagements.

He called on personnel to remain vigilant, dedicated, and committed to the vision of the Nigeria Police Force, which seeks to transform policing into a more proactive, intelligence-driven, and community-oriented service.

AIG Gumel further reassured officers of the command’s resolve to provide necessary training and capacity-building programs to enhance their operational effectiveness.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by police personnel in the discharge of their duties but encouraged them to remain steadfast in serving the country.

The maiden general lecture ended with a call to action, urging officers and men of the Zone 7 Police Command to embody excellence, professionalism, and discipline in their conduct.

The event marks the beginning of a series of engagements aimed at boosting morale and improving operational efficiency within Zone 7 Command, Abuja.
