Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Abubakar Umar Tafida, has attributed the positive reception of the local government election campaign to the remarkable achievements of Governor Nasir Idris’s administration in its first year in office.

Speaking at the APC Zonal Campaign Rally in Bunza Town on Thursday, Tafida, who represented Governor Idris, expressed delight at the overwhelming turnout of APC supporters from Bunza, Bagudo, Maiyama, and Suru local government areas.

Highlighting the Governor’s achievements, the Deputy Governor emphasized that Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris remains the only governor in Nigeria to distribute fertilizer and other agricultural inputs to farmers free of charge. He also enumerated significant achievements in the education sector, including the construction and renovation of school infrastructure, road projects, and the recruitment of 2,000 new teachers.

The Deputy Governor further acknowledged the government’s efforts in youth and women empowerment across the state. At the rally, he welcomed hundreds of defectors from the PDP to the APC, stating that their action was evidence of the positive impact of Governor Idris’s leadership. Tafida urged the electorate to vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming local government elections.

The APC State Party Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, received the defectors, assuring them of equal and fair treatment within the party. Among the defectors, Sambo Juli, along with Faruk Bunza and Hon. Ruwa Sambo, declared that Bunza Local Government was now firmly in the hands of the APC, praising the Governor for his infrastructural development in the state.

Other key figures who spoke at the rally included Zonal Vice Chairman Kebbi Central, Abubakar Bello; State House of Assembly member Hon. Usman Ladan; Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Yusuf Tilli; and Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Governmental Affairs, Abubakar Gari Malam. They unanimously agreed that the PDP had lost its influence in Bunza, with the APC now leading the way.

A highlight of the event was the donation of a new vehicle to the APC chairmanship candidate of Bunza LGA by Aliyu Muhammad Guruza, a prominent businessman in the state.

Earlier, the APC team, under the leadership of Deputy Governor Tafida, paid homage to the District Head of Bunza, Mustapha Bunza, where they sought prayers and royal blessings. The Deputy Governor also outlined the myriad of developmental projects undertaken by the APC-led administration under Governor Idris’s leadership.

In response, the District Head of Bunza, represented by Abubakar Magaji, thanked the campaign team for their visit and prayed for the successful conduct of the elections.
