The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Gombe state in the 2013 general elections, Keftin Amuga, says Nigeria would not have drifted if retired General Theophilus Danjuma had accepted to be president.

Amuga who doubles as state Chairman of the Gombe State Middle Belt Forum, stated this on Saturday, while felicitating with Danjuma on his 85th birthday, in a message he signed describing the Octogenarian as a leader and mentor.

Amuga reflected on the journey that began with the formation of the Political Association of the People’s Solidarity Party in 1989, which, although unregistered, garnered acclaim for its massive electoral acceptance, Nationwide at the inception of the Second Republic Democratic dispensation, acknowledging the profound inspiration he derives from Danjuma’s qualities.

Amuga said, “Since you piloted us in the formation of the then Political Association of the People’s Solidarity Party- PSP, which should have won the General Election at the inception of the Second Republic, had it been registered, I became inspired by your love for the Nigerian Nation irrespective of premodial cleavages.”

Amuga disclosed that the inherent wisdom and courage of Danjuma, has been instrumental in guiding his political endeavours, adding “My leader’s profound understanding and unwavering strength of character has served as a beacon of inspiration for me and countless others.”

He added that Danjuma’s humility, discipline, and firmness left an indelible mark on his perception of leadership, “I wholeheartedly believe that had Gen. T.Y Danjuma accepted the presidency of the Nigerian Nation, the country would have been spared from the current catastrophic state it finds itself in. Nonetheless, i express unwavering divine confidence in the leader’s ability to continue leading with vigor, not only in the entire Middle Belt Region but also Nationally,” he added.

He disclosed that Danjuma’s love for the Nigerian Nation, transcends primordial cleavages, “Stands as a testament to our commitment to national unity. His resolute stand on the unity of the Nigerian Nation is unwavering and non-negotiable. Gen. T.Y Danjuma’s steadfast dedication to combating the oppression of the less privileged and his unwavering readiness to uplift the downtrodden. These qualities exemplify his unwavering commitment to social justice and equality,” Amuga added.
