…CP Mohammed Gumel vows to deal those who try to truncate peace

Tension is building up in Kano state as resident of the ancient city await judgement from the Supreme Court over the appeal filed at the apex court by the state governor, Abba Yusuf, against the judgment of the Appeal Court, which affirmed APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna as governor.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Gumel, has again signed peace accord with the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the event on Friday, Gumel vowed to deal with anyone or groups who threaten to truncate peace in the state.

According to him, the State Joint Security Committee is in place to make sure that anybody under any guise that went against the signed peace accord would have himself to blame.

“We will not allow anybody, no matter his place in the society, to cause disharmony and violence among Kano citizens who are peace loving people,” he said.

The state chairman of the NNPP, Hashimu Dungurawa and the state Deputy Chairman of the APC, Shehu Maigari, disagreed on who was responsible for the breach of the peace accords earlier signed by both political parties.

While Hungurawa accused APC members of inciting violence against which his party and the state governor, Abba Yusuf had worked, Maigari, said it is known fact that the NNPP was behind the violent protests in the state.
