The Executive Director (Finance) of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Prof. Muhammad Bashar Nuhu Tachi, has condemned the recent bandits’ attack on communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, describing it as tragic, inhumane, and deeply disturbing.
Communities including Erena, Bagna, and Yelwa were reportedly attacked, with several lives lost and many homes destroyed. Residents were displaced after gunmen set houses ablaze, leaving families devastated and entire communities in shock.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Prof. Tachi expressed heartfelt sympathy to the victims, noting that the recurring violence continues to undermine peace and development in the region.
“This senseless attack on innocent citizens is a painful reminder of the security challenges facing our communities. It is unacceptable that lives are cut short and families are left homeless by the actions of criminal elements,” he said.
He commiserated with the Niger State Government, the people of Shiroro, and especially the families who lost loved ones and property in the incident.
Prof. Tachi called on security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible and bring them to justice, stressing the importance of proactive and sustained action to prevent further attacks.
“We must strengthen our collective resolve to end these acts of terror. I urge security agencies to redouble their efforts, while all stakeholders work together to restore peace and protect vulnerable communities,” he added.
He also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts by sharing credible information that could help curb criminal activities.
Reaffirming his commitment, Prof. Tachi said he would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving security, rebuilding affected communities, and promoting sustainable development across the North Central region.
