An alumnus of the Farfaru Old Boys Association (FOBA), and Managing Director of Maraba Pottery, Kaduna, Umaru Sanda Aliyu (popularly known as Alison), says entrepreneurship and innovation remain Nigeria’s strongest pillars for economic growth, job creation and long-term development.
He stated this while delivering a lecture titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation” at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Farfaru Old Boys Association (FOBA), held at Idris Koko Technical College, Sokoto.
Alison described entrepreneurship as taking control of one’s financial future, stressing that buying an existing business or a franchise can provide young people with a solid foundation for success. He urged students and youth to embrace creative thinking and seize emerging opportunities, saying innovation drives the world’s most successful enterprises.
He also praised FOBA members who have excelled in business, noting that their achievements should inspire younger generations. According to him, the school’s strong technical and academic training prepares students to compete globally.
FOBA President, Prof. Tijjani Bande, thanked members for continuously supporting their alma mater. He called on the government to upgrade the school to a three-star technical institution, and revealed plans to collaborate with authorities to establish a technical university within the college.
Other speakers, including Dr. Bashir Dan Fili, encouraged young Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurship as a pathway out of unemployment and economic hardship.
FOBA commissioned several projects, including a block of three classrooms donated by Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu, a proud alumnus of the school.
