The Adefaka family, a distinguished branch of the Abibiri Ruling House of Isolo and the Ojijigogu Ruling House of Akure, Ondo State, has congratulated Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his emergence as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oyo State.
The family, in a statement issued Thursday, August 21, 2025, by its Secretary and Spokesman, Bashir Adefaka, described Oba Ladoja’s elevation as divinely ordained and a reflection of his long-standing service to the people of Ibadan and Nigeria at large.
The Chairman and Head of the Adefaka Family, Prince Babatunde Adefaka, noted that the new monarch’s ascension followed due process, having been nominated by the Olubadan-in-Council and endorsed by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
“The approval of His Excellency, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland has been ordained by God the Almighty,” Prince Adefaka said. “His journey from his first appointment as a chief within the royal lineage of Ibadanland to his tenure as a democratically elected governor of Oyo State, alongside his business acumen and moral integrity, underscores his steadfast commitment to his people.”
He added that Oba Ladoja’s new role was not a surprise to his associates, describing it as a fulfillment of divine will.
The family also recalled the monarch’s personal show of solidarity during their period of bereavement earlier in the year, following the death of their patriarch, Alhaji Kasumu Yesufu Daniel Adefaka, on January 4, 2025.
“Congratulations, Your Imperial Majesty,” Prince Babatunde Adefaka saluted, while praying for a successful reign.
Oba Ladoja, who was a former governor of Oyo State, will be formally coronated as the Olubadan of Ibadanland on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
