The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has congratulated the Alara of Ilara Kingdom in Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, Telade IV, on the celebration of his 5th coronation anniversary.
Oba Ogunsanwo was formally presented with the Staff of Office and Instruments of Office by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on August 16, 2020. The ceremonies marking his fifth year on the throne began on Friday, August 15, and climaxed on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
In a congratulatory letter dated August 8 and released to the media on Saturday, the Sultan described Oba Ogunsanwo’s reign as impactful, noting that it had brought progress to the Ilara Kingdom, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole.
“These past five years have witnessed your steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional service and guiding your people with the dignity and wisdom that traditional leadership embodies. Your reign has significantly contributed to the progress and well-being of the Ilara Kingdom in particular, Lagos State and Nigeria in general,” the Sultan stated.
He offered prayers for the monarch’s continued strength, wisdom, and good health as he steers the affairs of his people.
“As you celebrate this milestone, we offer our heartfelt prayers to Almighty God, who appointed you, to guide and protect you always. May He grant you continued strength, good health, enhanced wisdom, and the prosperity necessary to fulfill your noble responsibilities,” the Sultan added.
The Sultan wished the Alara many more years of “God-fearing and dedicated leadership” while extending blessings to the monarch, his family, and the people of Ilara Kingdom.
