WEIRD: Uncle, 54 rapes 4-year-old niece in Plateau

A 54-year-old Yohanna Danladi has allegedly raped his step sister’s four year old daughter in Barkin Kasuwa of Mangu local government area of Plateau state.

The state Police Command has also arraigned Danladi at the Jos High Court.

In the suit No. PLD/J88C/2021 between the Commissioner of Police and Mr Yohanna Danladi, the police averred that the culprit was remanded at the Jos prison over an alleged rape of a 4-year-old minor whose mother is of the same parentage.

The defendant of case has been standing trial on a one count charge of rape which happened on January 16, 2021 within the jurisdiction of the honourable court, according to the Prosecutor, Barr. O.S.Okpuru.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant lured the girl into his room by telling her of the same address to buy something for him and in the process sexually assaulted her by pulling off his trouser while carrying her on his laps against her will.

She informed the court that the victim was seriously brutalized in the vagina, resulting to bleeding and stitches of her vagina.

Okpuru said the defendant confessed to the crime but denied it while the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. He claimed that his statements were forcefully taken by inspect Venshak Moses and Emmanuel Andrew. Okpuru said that it could not be true as the victim that was raped obtained various degrees injuries.

He noted that the offence contravened Section 208 punishable by penal code Law of Plateau State, 2017

The plea of the accused was taken, and he was still to be remanded in prison

Justice Nafisatu Mohammed has adjourned the case to Nove 26, 2022 for final adoption of written addresses, consequently the defendant was returned back to prison.

Meanwhile, his step sister complained of threats to her life by family members for instituting suit.
