The Old Boys Association of Idris Koko Technical College, Farfaru (FOBA) has completed a series of development projects worth N300 million in their alma mater.
The National President of the Association and former Nigerian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Professor Tijjani Bande, disclosed this during the association’s 2025 Annual General Meeting held over the weekend.
According to him, the interventions include the construction of a perimeter fence, renovation of classrooms, and the provision of tables, chairs, and other learning facilities.
Prof. Bande noted that the AGM provided members with an opportunity to reconnect and renew their commitment to the college’s growth, describing the institution as a vital contributor to societal development. He also announced plans for the construction of a craft pottery centre, whose foundation was laid shortly after the meeting.
While appreciating members for their continued support, he urged them to remain consistent in fulfilling their financial obligations to the college. He equally commended the Sokoto State Government for its sustained support.
Declaring the meeting open, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Professor Attahiru Sifawa, revealed that the college has been listed among institutions earmarked for comprehensive renovation by the state government in 2027.
He applauded FOBA for complementing government efforts through tangible interventions and described the association as the most impactful alumni body in the state.
“We are happy with all your interventions. I can count at least five major projects. So far, the Farfaru Old Boys Association is the best,” he said.
The commissioner also encouraged other alumni groups to emulate FOBA, assuring that the ministry and the state government remain committed to collaborating to improve the college and raise the standard of education across Sokoto State.
