Former Governor and current Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has continued to endear himself to the people of Sokoto through his consistent leadership, generosity, and grassroots engagement.

This affirmation came from former Senator Ibrahim Danbaba, who described Wamakko as a true servant-leader whose legacy is built on compassion and action, not political grandstanding.

“Senator Wamakko is a man of the people. His concern for the masses is genuine—he empowers, he supports, and he listens,” Danbaba said during a recent interview.

He noted that despite political differences in the past, Wamakko’s continued support for education, youth development, healthcare, and humanitarian causes has earned him a place in the hearts of ordinary Sokoto citizens.

“You can’t deny his love for Sokoto. His leadership style is people-first, and that’s why he remains relevant, respected, and loved,” Danbaba added.

Wamakko, a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has remained influential not only in Sokoto politics but also at the national level. He is widely credited with using his office to attract projects, create opportunities for youth, and support vulnerable communities across the state.

Political analysts say his ability to connect with everyday people—long after leaving the governor’s office—underscores his enduring popularity and relevance.

As 2027 approaches, many believe Wamakko’s political weight will remain a defining factor in Sokoto’s political landscape.
