President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence as the nation celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary.
Speaking at the National Mosque, Abuja, during a special Jumaat prayer on Friday, Tinubu — represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris — said Nigeria can only achieve the dreams of its founding fathers if citizens work together despite differences.
“Differences will always exist, but Mr President’s message is one of hope, unity, and togetherness. Nigerians must imbibe these values so that, collectively, we can achieve the progress and prosperity he has promised since assuming office,” Idris said.
The President acknowledged Nigeria’s current challenges but assured that his administration is making steady progress in turning things around. He appealed for patience as reforms aimed at reviving the economy and improving security take effect.
Tinubu also congratulated Nigerians on the milestone and urged continuous prayers for the nation’s leaders. He stressed this year’s theme, “Nigeria at 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” as a call for unity across ethnic, religious, and political lines.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Kyari, also attended the prayers, saying Nigeria is on course to reclaim its place in the global community.
The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Traditional Council, His Highness Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, prayed for peace and prosperity, urging citizens to remain united as Nigeria enters another decade of independence.
