The Bauchi State Police Command has foiled a robbery attempt and arrested two suspected armed robbers in possession of two locally made guns and a stolen motorcycle, following a swift response to a distress call in Azare town, Katagum Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Command, the incident occurred on October 25, 2025, around 5:00 a.m., when a distress call was received from one Adamu Abdullahi of Gandum Wambai area, Azare. He reported that armed men had invaded his business premises, GKY Food and Oil Mills, and carted away a motorcycle.
Acting on the report, police operatives from the Azare Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, launched a rapid pursuit of the fleeing suspects and intercepted them at Lafiya village along the Lafiya–Gwasame road.
The suspects, identified as Hassan Babangida and Abdullahi Hussaini, both residents of Hanafari village in Jama’are Local Government Area, were arrested at the scene.
Items recovered from them include two locally made guns and one Bajaj motorcycle.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the swift response of the operatives and the cooperation of local vigilantes, which led to the success of the operation. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining proactive policing strategies to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
