The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the family of the late Muhammadu Buhari, the government and people of Katsina State, and the nation at large following the passing of the former Head of State and two-term President.
In a condolence message signed by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, who is also the Chairman of the NGF, the forum described Buhari as a “soldier-statesman” whose life was marked by courage, duty, and unwavering patriotism.
“From the battlefield to the State House, his legacy is etched in our national consciousness,” the statement read. “He was a leader who gave his all in the service of Nigeria.”
The NGF acknowledged Buhari’s enduring commitment to national unity, inclusive governance, and the sovereignty of the nation, noting that his leadership, though often carried out under immense pressure, was characterized by quiet strength and deep resolve.
“President Buhari’s values of selfless service, national interest, and moral rectitude will guide us as we continue in public service,” AbdulRazaq said on behalf of his fellow governors.
The forum pledged to honour the memory of the late president not only in words but by striving to uphold the principles he lived by.
“We pray Almighty God grants him eternal rest and gives the nation the fortitude to bear this great loss,” the message concluded.
President Muhammadu Buhari passed away recently, marking the end of an era for one of Nigeria’s most influential military and civilian leaders.
