The Nigerian military has successfully repelled a deadly terrorist incursion into Bangi community, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, drawing commendation from Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago — fondly referred to as the “farmer governor” — praised the security forces for their bravery and professionalism during the operation, which lasted over three hours and led to the killing of several terrorists.

He described the military’s action as gallant, selfless, and patriotic, noting that their swift intervention saved countless lives and protected the community from what could have been a devastating attack.

The governor also extended appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his visit to the state following the foiled attack. He offered heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military and the families of personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing them as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

“Their deaths will not be in vain,” Bago stated, while also praying for the repose of the souls of the fallen and a speedy recovery for the wounded.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to combating terrorism, the governor urged security agencies to remain resolute and courageous. He assured them of continued government support in the ongoing fight to rid the state of criminal elements.
