The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has vowed not to join the scheduled national protest organized by some Nigerian youths from August 1st to 10th.

During a special meeting at the party secretariat, the APC Chairman, Barr. Idris Shuaibu, addressed party stakeholders, the State Working Committee (SWC), and local government and ward officials. He advised them to shun the upcoming protest, labeling it as anti-people, anti-government, and against the good leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Barr. Shuaibu emphasized that they should rather celebrate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has made significant and historic achievements, particularly in allowing local governments’ financial autonomy to prevail in the court of law.

According to him, this achievement sets a historic milestone that previous administrations under Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Muhammadu Buhari failed to accomplish.
He highlighted that this milestone will liberate people from the grassroots and help combat poverty, as local governments are the tier of government closest to the people.
“There’s no way we will protest; we would rather celebrate the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making us proud as a party and shaping the course of history in the political space of the country.
“I want you all to go back to your respective communities and tell our members never to join the upcoming protest organized by people we consider enemies of Nigeria.
“Don’t allow anyone to deceive you; the protest is a plan by those we defeated during the last election to sabotage the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Idris said.

He charged party members to remain law-abiding, conduct themselves peacefully, and not join the protest.
He assured them that the APC in Adamawa is certainly going to reclaim its mandate as plans and strategies are being put in place to take over the state, God willing, in 2027. He commended all stakeholders who made it to the meeting despite their tight schedules and praised the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his unavoidable absence.
He lauded the NSA for doing a good job and making efforts to restore security and sanity to the nation.
Idris also clarified the party’s refusal to join the local government area election organized by the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC). He accused the current PDP-led government under Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of violating the laws establishing ADSIEC by appointing all PDP members to the commission, including the commissioner. He further accused Governor Fintiri of publicly announcing that all LG chairmen winners would be PDP candidates.
For this reason, Idris stated that APC stakeholders unanimously agreed to boycott the election to avoid wasting time, energy, and resources that would enrich the PDP.
