The Emir of Argungu, Samaila Muhammad Mera, has commended the Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, for his remarkable initiatives to further develop the educational sector in the state.
Mera particularly praised the governor for the construction of a mega school in his emirate, which he believes will significantly address school congestion once fully completed and operational.
The Emir made these commendations when the Commissioner of Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Argungu recently.
While reviewing the administration of Governor Nasir Idris in its first year, the royal father expressed confidence in the governor’s performance within such a short period.

He noted that within twelve months, about ten additional primary schools had been constructed in Argungu, and junior secondary schools had also been expanded in his domain.
“As I speak, we have wards in Argungu that had no primary school, but now there is none without a primary school in Argungu,” he said.
“Some of our old and densely populated schools now have junior secondary schools situated nearby, so students do not have to travel far from their homes. This is one of the factors why girls do not go to school. You can’t give anybody anything better than education,” he emphasized.
The monarch stressed the importance of education and highlighted the pedigree of Kauran Gwandu as an experienced educationist and activist. He firmly believes that the governor’s experience in the education sector is benefiting his administration.
“As a person who deals with education at the grassroots level, he knows the roles traditional institutions play in getting children registered in schools, ensuring they remain in school, and supporting teachers to carry out their activities diligently,” he stated.
He expressed delight with the level of synergy and understanding between the governor and the traditional institutions in the state.
“So personally, I am not surprised he is working with us. He knows what we can do as the first point of contact for the ordinary man. He is a resident activist, working with us at the lowest level of our community,” he concluded.
