The Governor’s Mandate Magazine has fixed December 7, 2023 as the day to honour some former state governors who performed outstandingly while in office as the chief executives of their respective states with the Governors’ Mandate Award.

The Chief Executive Officer of the magazine, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, also the Pioneer Director-General of the PDP’s Governors Forum, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja.

Onaiwu said that the awards would be given to the former governors in recognition and celebration of the exceptional achievements they recorded in infrastructural development, healthcare development, providing access to education for indigent scholars, and tourism development.

According to him, the Governor’s Mandate Legacy Awards and Gala Night, the 3rd in the series, will see esteemed personalities such as Dr Kayode Fayemi, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, Sen. Adamu Aliero, Isa Yuguda, Sen. Seriake Dickson, and Sen. Adams Oshiomole receiving the awards.

The aforementioned personalities were former governors of Ekiti, Ondo, Kebbi, Bauchi, Bayelsa, and Edo states respectively.

The CEO of Governor’s Mandate Magazine added that many other esteemed past governors would be honoured during the awards ceremony which will be held in Abuja.

He told journalists that the awards were an effort by Governor’s Mandate Magazine to encourage serving state governors to give their best in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people while at the same time honouring those past governors who left giant footprints in the sands of time by impacting the lives of their citizens.

Onaiwu said that former President Goodluck Jonathan would be at the event and would be expected to deliver the Keynote Address.

“Governor’s Mandate Legacy Awards, initiated by Governor’s Mandate Magazine aims to showcase the remarkable contributions made by outstanding leaders during their terms in office.

“These awards serve as a testament to their dedication, passion, and commitment to the growth and development of their respective states, leaving an indelible legacy for future generations.

“Honoring exemplary governors, the inaugural gala night will present awards to a select group of exceptional individuals who have made significant and lasting impacts in their communities.

“The event will be graced by distinguished guests, esteemed members of the political and business community, and other prominent personalities from across the nation.

“The Governor’s Mandate Legacy Awards will showcase the achievements of these adroit leaders in diverse areas that have significantly transformed their communities.

“This is because their notable impact in infrastructural development, health, education, and tourism has paved the way toward a brighter future for all Nigerians,” Onaiwu said.
