The Nigerian Bar Association’s Jalingo branch has extended heartfelt congratulations to one of its most distinguished members, Aishatu Mohammed Esq, following her election as Treasurer of the NBA’s Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL).
In a statement filled with pride and admiration, members of the Jalingo Bar described her victory as a well-deserved recognition of her unwavering commitment to justice, public interest, and the development of the legal profession in Nigeria.
SPIDEL, an arm of the Nigerian Bar Association, is a platform dedicated to the promotion of public interest law and litigation. It seeks to ensure access to effective remedies for victims of legal violations and to advocate for laws and institutions that guarantee public safety, justice, and accountability.
“Aisha’s election did not come to us as a surprise,” the statement read. “She has earned this position through years of selfless service and dedication.”

Aishatu Mohammed’s leadership credentials are long established. She once served as Vice Chairperson of the Jalingo Bar and was widely regarded as the engine behind the administration during a period when the Chairman, Emmanuel Halan Gowon Esq, was largely absent. Her tenure, from 2008 to 2010, was marked by maturity, intuition, and leadership, which earned her widespread respect.
After her term with the Jalingo Bar, she was elected Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Taraba State Chapter, in 2010. In that role, she became a strong advocate for the rights of women, focusing on victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and other gender-based challenges. Her work left a lasting impact, and she is today celebrated as a leading voice and legal icon within the Taraba legal community.
The Jalingo Bar, in its message, assured Aishatu Mohammed of its unwavering support and called on her to remain a proud ambassador of the branch at the national level.
“We urge her not to forget her primary constituency, the Jalingo Bar. You are our eyes and ears at SPIDEL, and we trust you to uphold the values and excellence that have defined your career.”
The message concluded with prayers for divine guidance and wisdom for Aishatu Mohammed as she takes on her new national role.
“May Allah (subhanahu wata’ala) grant you the knowledge and strength to discharge your mandate effectively.”
