On Saturday, 26th April 2025, the spirit of fitness, community, and unity soared as the Shiroro Sports Forum (SSF) successfully hosted the much-anticipated Kuta Hiking event.

By Abubakar Abdullahi el-Kurebe

The historic event brought together a vibrant mix of participants, including students from Elite International College of Health Science and Technology, Zaria (Kuta Branch); Great Success College of Health Science and Technology, Gwada; youth groups; football clubs; respected institutions; and community leaders — all demonstrating a shared passion for progress and unity.

The gathering commenced as early as 6:00 a.m. at Kuta Roundabout, where participants, energized and enthusiastic, took off promptly at 6:30 a.m. The scenic hike across the ancient hills of Kuta showcased not only the breathtaking landscapes but also the enduring spirit of the Shiroro people.

In his opening remarks, SSF President, Comrade Aminu Yakubu Tanko (The Stopper), welcomed all present with heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming turnout. He emphasized that Kuta Hiking is “more than a recreational activity; it’s a movement to build resilience, promote health, and foster unity across Shiroro and beyond.” He reaffirmed SSF’s commitment to empowering youth and advancing community development through initiatives like this.

Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Shiroro Local Government, Hon. Akilu Isyaku Kuta, lauded the SSF for their vision and dedication. He warmly welcomed all participants and assured the Forum, saying, “whether in office or out, I remain a committed stakeholder to support and promote this noble initiative.”

In a remarkable announcement, the Chairman revealed plans for October 2025, when the event will expand into “Shiroro Hiking” — a larger, more inclusive gathering designed to unite stakeholders, prominent individuals, and community members from across the entire Shiroro Local Government Area.
“This expansion aims to foster deeper mutual understanding, reinforce unity, and promote a positive image of Shiroro,” he declared.

The event concluded with memorable group photographs, refreshments, and renewed determination to strengthen community ties and nurture a healthier, more united Shiroro.

Once again, the Shiroro Sports Forum (SSF) has demonstrated its motto in action — “Uniting and Extracting Talents from the Grassroots.”
We eagerly anticipate October 2025, when Shiroro Hiking will bring even greater impact and inspiration!
