FUBK confers doctorate degrees on SSU Pro-Chancellor, Amb. Sani, 3 others

The Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has conferred honorary doctorate degrees on Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of Sokoto State University, Ambassador (Dr.) Abubakar Muhammad Sani, alongside three other distinguished individuals.

Ambassador Sani received the award during FUBK’s maiden combined convocation ceremony held on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Other recipients included business mogul Muhammadu Indimi, former governor of Kebbi State, Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, and Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Group.

Ambassador Sani, represented by Alhaji Yusuf Muhammad Sani Makama, was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa).

According to the Vice-Chancellor of FUBK, Prof. M. Z. Umar, the award recognized Makama’s significant contributions to the establishment and transformation of the university, as well as his notable contributions to society.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Prof. Mohammed Bello Yerima, who was part of the awardee’s entourage, described the honour as well-deserved. On behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, staff, and the entire student body of Sokoto State University, he congratulated the Pro-Chancellor.

Prof. Yerima also extended the institution’s gratitude to FUBK for deeming Ambassador Abubakar Sani worthy of the award.

The Pro-Chancellor was accompanied to the ceremony by the University Registrar, Kuluwa Abubakar Nuhu; Prof. Bello D. Bada, a member of the Governing Council; Dr. Ibrahim M. M. Furfuri, University Librarian; Dr. Ibrahim Isa; Abubakar Abdullahi Achida, Council members, and others, including Prof. Aliya Adamu Ahmad of the Department of Nigerian Languages and Nasiru Bello Gandi, Council Affairs Officer.
