Worried by the persistent massacre of people on the Plateau, a Lagos-based public affairs commentator who hails from Plateau State, Dinfa Dombin, has urged Governor Caleb Mathis Mutfwang to be proactive in tackling the security challenges ravaging the area.

Dinfa in an open letter addressed to Governor Mutfwang titled, “WHY SIT WE HERE TILL WE ALL DIE?,” says he feels a moral burden to add his voice to a retinue of voices calling on him to halt the spate of killings and prevent the situation from sliding into total chaos in the State.

His call comes on the heels of renewed attacks that led to massacre of hundreds of people and loss of properties worth millions of naira in Mangu, Bokkos, and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of the State.

According to him, it is not enough to issue press releases to condemn such attacks, and continue to pass the bulk to the federal government.

Dinfa further urged the Governor to listen to those who are calling for the establishment of a State Police.

According to him, “Your Excellency, we cannot continue to explain to the world that the state’s Chief Executive Officer has no authority to mobilise the established government security apparatus to action while our people remain perpetually helpless in the face of their killers who set houses ablaze and forcefully occupy their lands by brute force.”
