The Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State and former governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for prioritising infrastructure development and people-oriented projects across the state.
Wamakko spoke on Wednesday while flagging off the construction of the 35.7-kilometre Gidan Madi–Binji–Gande Road Project, valued at over N11.836 billion, as part of activities marking the third anniversary of the Ahmed Aliyu administration.
The road project is expected to strengthen rural connectivity, ease the movement of agricultural produce from farming communities to markets, stimulate local economic activities and improve access to social and economic opportunities across the benefiting areas.
Wamakko described the project as a major investment in the state’s infrastructure, saying improved road networks remained critical to accelerating economic growth and unlocking the productive potential of rural communities.
The former governor also commended Ahmed Aliyu for what he described as impactful interventions in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply and security.
He said the achievements recorded by the administration in its first three years demonstrated that it had justified the confidence reposed in it by the people of Sokoto State.
Wamakko also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support for Sokoto State and his commitment to national development.
He assured the President of the continued support and loyalty of the people of Sokoto State to the success of the APC-led Federal Government.
The APC leader urged the contractor handling the road project to ensure its timely completion while adhering strictly to quality standards and specifications.
He also prayed for God’s continued guidance and protection for Governor Ahmed Aliyu as he leads the state.
In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu said the road project was part of his administration’s broader strategy to improve rural infrastructure, promote economic growth and facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce.
According to him, connecting rural communities through quality road infrastructure would help farmers access markets more efficiently while supporting economic activities and improving livelihoods.
The governor expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his support, while also acknowledging Wamakko’s fatherly guidance and continued mentorship.
The event culminated in the formal flag-off of the construction of the Gidan Madi–Binji–Gande Road Project by Senator Wamakko.
