No fewer than 200,000 residents of Yobe State have benefited from a Ramadan feeding programme organised by Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT), a governorship hopeful ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative, which has reached the halfway mark of the Ramadan fast, has so far provided daily meals to beneficiaries across the three senatorial zones of the state.
Organisers said the programme targets the needy, orphans and vulnerable households to help them break their fast with relative ease during the holy month.
According to estimates obtained from designated KMT Ramadan feeding centres and mobile feeding teams operating across the state, more than 200,000 people have been served meals within the first 15 days of Ramadan.
A new feature introduced this year involves mobile teams delivering meals directly to Sangaya-based Qur’anic schools, elderly persons and residents living far from the established feeding centres.
Tumsah, popularly known as KMT, is widely regarded by supporters as a development advocate who has supported community initiatives over the years in areas such as education, healthcare, access to clean water through solar-powered boreholes, solar street lighting, rural feeder roads and empowerment programmes for women and youths.
Although he has not previously held public office in the state, his supporters say his community-based interventions have contributed to growing calls for him to contest the Yobe governorship seat.
They also attribute increased participation in voter registration and the APC membership e-registration exercise in parts of the state to voter education and mobilisation campaigns carried out by his supporters.
