19th coronation anniversary: Sarki Fulani of Lagos congratulates Sultan Abubakar

The Council of Fulani Chiefs in South West Nigeria, under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, who is the Sarki Fulani of Lagos, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar on clocking 19 years in his ancestral Usmaniyyah throne as Sultan of the Sokoto Caliphate.

In a statement personally signed by Dr. Bambado II abd copies of which were circulated to the media on Tuesday November 11, 2025, it implied that celebrating a great icon of national and continental peace and advocate of a world free of conflict the Co-President of World’s Religions for Peace headquartered in New York like Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar cannot come at a better time than now when a while November every year is open as his month of ascension to the throne.

Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, son of 17th Sultan of Sokoto, younger brother of 19th Sultan of Sokoto and, himself, the 20th Sultan of the Sokoto Caliphate, on November 2, 2006, became the natural successor to his elder brother, Sultan Muhammadu Maccido (Abubakar) following the Sunday October 31 sadly ADC plane crash that claimed his life and those of others including Usman Shagari, son of former President of Nigeria and then Special Adviser to Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim.

The sitting Sultan’s reign has achieved widespread unity and peace building of human creatures across local and international boundaries and the Sarki Fulani of Lagos, who was away in the United States of America during the November 2, 2025 that 12th Usman Dan Fodio Week coinciding this coronation anniversary, says “Sarki Musulumi of Nigeria has achieved more to keep us together as Nigerians in support of our great governments both as federal and state levels.”

To this end, Bambado II said, “On behalf of the entire Fulani community in Lagos and the Council of Fulani Chiefs, Southwest Nigeria, I heartily congratulate Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), on the momentous occasion of your 19th anniversary on the throne of your forefathers.

“Your 19 years of visionary leadership have been marked by wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and the preservation of our faith and cultural heritage. Your reign continues to serve as a beacon of guidance not only to the Ummah but to the entire nation.

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) grant you long life, sound health, and continued strength to lead with the same grace and foresight that have defined your reign.

“Long live His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto! Long live the Caliphate!! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!”, said the Sarki Fulani of Lagos and Chairman, Council of Fulani Chiefs, South West Nigeria.
