In the realm of Nigerian politics, where the echoes of ambition often drown out the voices of genuine service, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, Iyan Zazzau, emerges as a paragon of transformative leadership. His tenure as a Member of the House of Representatives is not merely marked by the passage of time but rather illuminated by a series of impactful initiatives that have reshaped the landscape of Zaria Federal Constituency. Dr. Tajudeen embodies the essence of dedication, foresight, and an unwavering commitment to public service, which is vividly reflected in the breadth and depth of his developmental projects.

Across the 13 wards of Zaria Federal Constituency, Dr. Tajudeen has initiated a remarkable array of capital projects that address the pressing needs of his constituents. The construction and equipping of a Primary Health Center in Bizara (Dambo Ward) and a Modern ICT Centre in Amaru (Kwarbai A Ward) are just two examples of his commitment to enhancing healthcare and education. These projects are complemented by the establishment of two blocks of six classrooms at JSS Dallatu (Dutsen Abba Ward) and a Solar-Powered Borehole with a 20,000-litre overhead tank in Magume (Tukur Tukur Ward). Furthermore, substantial road rehabilitation has improved connectivity, facilitating access to essential services and fostering economic growth.

One of the crowning achievements of Dr. Tajudeen’s tenure is the conceptualization of “Zaria Education City,” a visionary initiative poised to redefine the educational landscape of the region. Valued at approximately ₦80 billion, this landmark project encompasses the Federal College of Education, a state-of-the-art Federal College of Nursing and Health Sciences, a National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) campus, and a College of Legal Studies. The inclusion of a police station on the site underscores his commitment to ensuring safety and security in this burgeoning educational hub. The groundbreaking ceremony held in December 2024 marked a significant milestone, affirming Dr. Tajudeen’s vision for Zaria as “the center of learning” and a catalyst for critical human capital development.

Dr. Tajudeen’s commitment to empowerment is equally commendable. Through a robust empowerment program, he has distributed 117 vehicles—including 20 Hilux pickups, 2 ambulances, 20 eighteen-seater buses, 50 Sharon utility vehicles, and 25 sedans—to constituency members and community institutions. This initiative has not only enhanced mobility for various groups but has also invigorated local economies. Additionally, the distribution of 200 tricycles (Keke NAPEP) and 1,000 motorcycles has benefitted religious groups, women’s associations, health workers, teachers, and journalists, thereby fostering inclusivity and economic participation.

In July 2025, Dr. Tajudeen undertook a personal inspection of 14 key projects in Zaria, including the completed Dr. Yahaya Hamza Primary School and a 20-bed Primary Health Centre. His hands-on approach demonstrates a commitment to accountability and transparency, ensuring that the developmental projects meet the needs of the community. Ongoing works on vital infrastructure, such as Agoro Bridge, Nasara Stadium, and the College of Nursing, reflect his dedication to enhancing the quality of life for his constituents.

Recognizing the importance of education, Dr. Tajudeen facilitated post-secondary exam fees for 9,000 students, including 4,000 UTME exam fees for indigent students. This initiative not only alleviates the financial burden on families but also empowers the youth to pursue their academic aspirations. Moreover, his launch of a ₦5 billion scholarship scheme for 30,000 students across the North West, with provisions ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦800,000 per student, underscores his commitment to educational accessibility and equity.

Dr. Tajudeen’s influence extends beyond primary and secondary education; he has catalyzed development at major tertiary institutions, such as Ahmadu Bello University and Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, to improve learning environments. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, as over 110 primary and 40 secondary schools within his constituency have been renovated or upgraded, ensuring that the next generation receives quality education.

In addition to his educational initiatives, Dr. Tajudeen has institutionalized progressive youth programs, including mentorship initiatives, legislative internships, and bi-annual youth engagement sessions. The Youth Town Hall on Budget and special provisions for youths with disabilities demonstrate his commitment to fostering inclusion, leadership development, and democratic participation among the youth. By empowering the next generation, Dr. Tajudeen is laying the groundwork for a more engaged and informed citizenry.

As the political situation continues to evolve, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen stands as a beacon of hope and progress for the people of Zaria Federal Constituency. His exceptional track record of developmental projects, commitment to education, and dedication to empowering the youth solidify his position as a leader who not only understands the needs of his constituents but actively works to address them. In a world where many leaders falter, Dr. Tajudeen remains resolute, embodying the qualities of a true statesman. As he continues to champion the cause of his people, it is clear that he remains the man to beat in the realm of Nigerian politics.
