The Rotary Club of Bauchi Central has reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian services and developmental support in Bauchi State.
This was made known during the unveiling of the Club’s first public signpost at Miri community along the Bauchi–Jos Federal Highway, marking a significant step in enhancing public visibility and community engagement.
President of the Club, Rotarian Adeyemi Adekunle, said the installation is part of efforts to raise awareness about the Club’s presence and activities in the state.
“Since we started Rotary Club in Bauchi, many people are unaware of our presence. This is our first public Rotary signpost in the state, and we intend to commission four more at key entry points — Jos Road, Gombe Road, Maiduguri Bypass, and Kano Road,” he said.
Adekunle explained that beyond visibility, the signposts form part of a broader membership drive aimed at expanding the Club’s impact in critical sectors such as health and education.
“We need more members to expand our humanitarian outreach. The more members we have, the more resources we can mobilize to serve humanity,” he added.
He also announced plans to visit the Secondary School in Miri to donate reusable sanitary pads and educate students on menstrual hygiene.
“This aligns with our focus on family health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and improving educational environments for girls,” he noted.
The District Head of Miri, Hussaini Abubakar, who was represented by the Sarkin Malaman Miri, Sunusi Abubakar, commended the Rotary Club for its interventions in the community, particularly in the areas of health and education.
He acknowledged previous support, including the provision of toilets and reusable sanitary pads for students, and assured the community’s continued collaboration with the Club.
The signpost unveiling underscores the Rotary Club of Bauchi Central’s ongoing efforts to increase visibility, expand partnerships, and deepen its impact through service to humanity.
