As Nigeria marks her 64th Independence Anniversary this Tuesday, Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has emphasized the importance of national unity, social cohesion, and harmonious coexistence.

He stated that peace, tranquillity, and brotherhood are the foundations of Nigeria’s greatness and prosperity.

Governor Idris made this statement in Birnin Kebbi as part of his anniversary message to the people of Kebbi State on the occasion of Nigeria’s 64th Independence celebration.

Dr. Idris urged Nigerians to build upon the legacy of the nation’s founding fathers, embracing values such as hard work, truthfulness, patriotism, and love for one another.

He remarked, *“We are stronger in unity; our prosperity lies in upholding togetherness as a single, indivisible entity.”*

The governor also spoke about the importance of sustained prayers as a potent weapon for overcoming the nation’s challenges.

He noted that no problem would be insurmountable if Nigerians, regardless of their faiths, continue to pray fervently.

Dr. Idris recalled the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers in securing the nation’s independence in 1960.

According to him, the best way to honor these sacrifices is by remaining committed to a united Nigeria, where all citizens are treated equally.

He urged Nigerians to reflect on the contributions of the nation’s founding fathers, such as Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whose efforts laid the foundation for Nigeria’s freedom.

Dr. Idris also stressed that justice, fairness, and equity are essential to Nigeria’s development.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Kebbi State for their continued support of his administration’s efforts to enhance security and development.

The governor called for patience and patriotism as Nigerians work together towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
