The Shiroro Local Government Council held a significant Congress Meeting on 21st October, 2024 at the 313 Hall, Kuta, convened by the NULGE Branch. The meeting featured the newly appointed Director of Administration (DA), Tanko Muhammad Beji, who engaged the general staff in an open dialogue aimed at fostering collaboration and addressing key issues within the local government service.

A statement by the Information Officer of the local government council, Abubakar Abdullahi on Monday, said in his keynote address, DA Tanko Muhammad Beji emphasized the importance of punctuality and diligence in the workplace, urging staff to uphold high standards of professionalism. He also highlighted the necessity for staff to pursue further education to enhance their promotion opportunities and addressed ongoing concerns regarding the 7.5% pension issue and pending salaries.

The DA commended the NULGE leadership for their relentless advocacy for staff welfare and announced plans for an in-house training program to motivate dedicated staff members. He reiterated his commitment to justice and fairness, drawing from his previous experience in Bosso, and assured staff that efforts were underway to address their concerns.

During the meeting, staff members raised various issues, including the integrity of promotion processes, office conditions, and the importance of proper representation for women in the workplace. The DA responded to these concerns, emphasizing the need for transparency and efficiency in local government operations.

In closing, Yakubu Garba, NULGE Branch Secretary, expressed gratitude to the DA for his commitment and urged staff to adhere to the guidance provided, reinforcing the local government’s dedication to improving working conditions and staff welfare.

This meeting marked a pivotal step toward enhancing collaboration and fostering a positive work environment within the Shiroro Local Government Council, with hopes for continued progress under the new administration.
