Abuja, July 14, 2025 — The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a “true statesman, patriot, and servant-leader” whose life and legacy will continue to inspire generations.
In a heartfelt tribute issued on Monday, Marwa praised Buhari’s unwavering commitment to public service, from his early days as Nigeria’s military Head of State to his democratic return as civilian President. He said Buhari’s leadership was marked by courage, discipline, and a sincere devotion to national unity and development.
“His tenure was marked by unwavering commitment to duty, courage in the face of adversity, and an abiding sense of responsibility to the Nigerian people,” Marwa stated.
He lauded Buhari’s efforts in restoring discipline in governance, enhancing national security, and prioritizing infrastructural and agricultural development as pathways to self-sufficiency and pride. “He possessed the rare ability to inspire calm amidst uncertainty and to lead with quiet resolve,” Marwa said, adding that Buhari’s integrity and personal discipline made him a standout leader in Nigeria’s complex political landscape.
Describing Buhari as a man of principle and faith, the NDLEA boss emphasized the late President’s humility and moral compass, noting that his leadership always reflected a deep concern for the common citizen.
“As we mourn his passing, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved family,” the statement read. “We stand with them in grief, offering our thoughts, prayers, and support during this time of profound loss.”
Marwa concluded the tribute with a prayer: “May the Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant the soul of our departed leader Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
President Muhammadu Buhari died earlier this week, prompting tributes from across Nigeria and the world for a man widely regarded as one of the country’s most disciplined and principled leaders.
