The Kogi State Government on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mr. Yunus Ustaz Usman, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who passed away following a brief illness.

In a statement issued in Lokoja by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Usman Ododo conveyed the government’s heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.

The governor noted that the news of Usman’s passing was received with profound shock and sadness, describing him as a distinguished son of Kogi, a legal luminary, and one of the brightest stars in the legal profession, whose light was tragically extinguished by death.

“Until his passing, Mr. Yunus Ustaz Usman, SAN, displayed exceptional professionalism and made significant contributions to the development of legal knowledge. He was a true embodiment of the Kogi spirit, which represents excellence, industry, and greatness,” said the governor.

Governor Ododo further described the late Senior Advocate as a brilliant and humble gentleman whose impactful work spoke louder than words.

He also called on the younger generation to draw inspiration from Usman’s legacy of immaculate brilliance, honesty, and hard work.

“Our deepest condolences go to the people of Dekina Local Government Area, the immediate and extended families of the late legal icon, and the Nigerian Bar Association over this irreparable loss,” Ododo added.

The governor emphasized that Usman’s death is not only a loss to Dekina LGA and Kogi State but also to the legal profession and Nigeria as a whole. He highlighted that Usman’s charming legal acumen and excellence would be sorely missed and prayed for God to grant his soul eternal rest.
