The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns over alleged attempts by detractors to create a crisis within the party by launching smear campaigns against state leaders.

According to a statement signed by Aminu Sani Gumel, the Jigawa APC chairman, certain individuals have been observed spreading falsehoods on social and mainstream media to destabilize the party.

The APC claims that these attacks are part of a calculated effort by “enemies of the party” who seek to disrupt the state’s leadership. “These elements, who aren’t even card-carrying members of the party, are using a few narrow-minded individuals to further their selfish agenda against party unity and stability,” said Gumel.

The APC reiterated its support for Governor Umar Namadi and former Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, stating that their leadership continues to enjoy the party’s trust and respect. “The current APC-led administration in Jigawa, under Governor Namadi, is a reflection and continuation of the former administration led by Muhammad Badaru Abubakar,” the statement read. “The reputation of these two leaders is of utmost importance to us, and we will defend it vigorously.”

The party condemned recent reports that targeted Defense Minister Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, describing the accusations as unfounded and unworthy of consideration. “One of the flabbergasting, sponsored reports against our leader, the Honorable Minister of Defense, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken,” said the party.

The APC also dismissed allegations of anti-party activities made against the minister, noting his contributions as APC North Campaign Coordinator, where he was instrumental in delivering Jigawa State and the region for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

“These childish and baseless accusations are unworthy of mention,” the statement continued, adding that the party would use all legal and political avenues to identify the individuals and groups responsible for spreading such false information and hold them accountable.

The Jigawa APC emphasized its commitment to ensuring that the current administration fulfils its campaign promises to the people of Jigawa and Nigeria at large.
