Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has extended heartfelt congratulations to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Okpebholo’s election as the duly elected governor of Edo State.

The apex court recently dismissed the appeal filed by Ighodalo, ruling it lacked merit and thereby upholding Okpebholo’s mandate. Governor Aliyu hailed the verdict as a significant triumph not only for the people of Edo State but also for the democratic process in Nigeria.

“This judgment is a testament to the independence and integrity of the Nigerian judiciary,” Governor Aliyu remarked. “It sends a strong message to the world that justice prevails in our country.”

Speaking on behalf of the people of Sokoto State, Governor Aliyu praised his colleague and brother, Governor Okpebholo, for his perseverance and commitment to public service. He described the ruling as a victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and all Nigerians who cherish democracy.

Governor Aliyu encouraged Governor Okpebholo to remain focused on governance and to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to all communities across Edo State. He wished him a successful and rewarding tenure in office.

The congratulatory message was issued by Abubakar Bawa, Press Secretary to the Sokoto State Governor.
