Defection: 9,000 NNPP, PDP members join APC in Sokoto

The House of Assembly candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Maniru Malami; leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state, have joined the All Progressives congress (APC).

They were received along with 9,000 other members of the parties by the APC governorship candidate, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto alongside his entourage were in Goronyo.

The NNPP candidate defected along with his party chairman, all local government executives and chairmen of the 11 wards of the area.

The executives that decamped to the APC include financial secretary of PDP in the local government, Hamza ‘Yardole; chairman, forum of the ward chairmen in the area, Amadu Dan Kansila and former councilor of Rimawa ward, Habibu Shehu Rimawa as well as PDP stalwart in the area, Hamisu Ya’u Isah Mai Alewa, among others.

The APC chairman of the local government, Kabiru Sarkin Fulani explained that the defectors were from the following wards:

Giyawa ward 1,350 members; Goronyo ward, 2,190; Rimawa ward, 850; Birjingo  1,100 and Kojiyo ward, 600.

Others are Gorau-Takakume ward, 680; Sabon Garin Dole ward  600; Shinaka 570; Boyekai ward, 620; Kwakwazo ward 525 and Kagara ward has 715 members.
